This blog is published by Richard J. Bortnick and Pamela D. Pengelley of Cozen O’Connor, an international law firm headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We have set up this blog for educational purposes only, not to provide specific legal advice. As such, it is intended to foster open dialogue among persons interested in the cyber/tech/privacy law areas.
If you are here reading this disclaimer, then you likely have some interest in our blog (hooray!). But since we are lawyers, we are also excessively paranoid about being dragged into court – it’s a trait of the profession. So here are some important points that we ask you to keep in mind:
- Responsibility: Just to reiterate what we have stated above, this is a personal blog and is not sponsored by any firm, clients, volunteer groups, membership organizations or other agencies which we might be seen to represent. By using this blog site you understand that there is no attorney client relationship between you and the Blog/Web Site publisher.
- Content Accuracy: We don’t represent that the information in this blog is correct or accurate. We all make mistakes. What the authors write on our blog is not to be taken as fact nor absolute…and although we hate to admit it, the information may sometimes be just plain wrong. If you require legal advice please consult a lawyer because the information contained in this blog site is provided only as general information for educational purposes.
- Content Validity: The blog topics may or may not be updated subsequent to their initial posting. A blog is always in transition. The information published today might not be valid or accurate tomorrow, two weeks or two years from now. Content, sources, information and links change over time.
- External Links: We will make best efforts to ensure that the blog links only to relevant and content-appropriate websites. However, URLs and domains can change hands and we can’t make any guarantees about where the external links may lead. Nor do we have any control over who chooses to link to this site. If you discover that we have linked to content that you feel is inappropriate or offensive, please let us know so that we can address the problem.
- Photographs and Graphic Images: Most of the images come straight from Microsoft’s Free Clip Art Gallery. We strive to ensure that we have all the proper permissions and attributions for every image and photograph that we post on the site. If you have a question about the graphics content on the site, please let us know.
- Files, Programs, and Downloadables: In terms of website design, please know that we are total amateurs - this is a hobby blog that we have crafted in the little free spare time we have, through trial and error without any expert assistance or advice. We use GoDaddy and WordPress to host this site. We have taught ourselves some basic html and css, but mostly, have cobbled this blog together out of a free WordPress Theme, “SilverRay”. We also have used WordPress Plugins and various other online Widgets to create the site. To the best of our knowledge, the site is computer-friendly and safe, but we are not able to make any technical guarantees about how the site will interact with your computer. If you experience any issues, please let us know.
- Libel, Defamation and Offensive Content: The posts and comments on this blog are the personal opinions of whomever has written the particular post or comment. The accuracy, completeness, veracity, honesty, exactitude, factuality and politeness of posts and comments are not guaranteed. If you do feel that some content is offensive, however, please give us a head’s up. Our intention is to do no harm.
- We Do Not Get Paid to Blog: The blog content is not generated to make money and we aren’t paid, nor do we pay, for blog content. This blog site is not intended to be advertising, and we don’t wish to represent anyone who might desire representation based upon viewing this blog site in a jurisdiction where this blog site fails to comply with all applicable laws and ethical rules.
- One Last Time – This Isn’t Legal Advice: Sure, the authors express our opinions and views about the law and legal issues. But there is a big difference between posting a general article on a blog and giving a client a professional legal opinion about a specific issue. The information on this blog is not provided in the course of a lawyer-client relationship and is not intended to constitute legal advice. This blog site should not be used as a substitute for competent legal advice from a licensed lawyer in your state, province or country. Please contact your local bar association, law society, neighborhood association of jurists, phone book, online directory, mother or Google to find or obtain a referral to a competent professional.
